The Academy’s competitive division program began in 1993 and has grown in every year of its existence. This division forms teams for competitive league USYSA and US Club Soccer play. F.C. Portland forms teams comprised of U11 through U19 boys & girls. Competition is an important tool for continuing the progress of excellent individual players. The club has experienced much success since forming competitive teams. In 1994, F.C. Portland’s U18 Boys earned the USYSA National Championship title and in the summer of 1997, F.C. Portland’s U16 Boys finished with a second place title in the same annual National Championship. The clubs U17 Girls brought home another National Championship in 2003, winning the inaugural US Club Soccer title. To round out 2003, we were very honored to have Mike Joyce voted the USYSA National Girl’s Coach of the Year.
